The Danfoss HeatMAP™. Floor Heating Mat Planner.

We are happy to introduce our new online layout tool called the The Danfoss HeatMAP™.

With this online tool you can specify the type of room you are going to install the floor heating system in. It also allows you to select the room shape, identify cold spots and make allowances for items such as bath tubs and counters and asks where you plan on installing the thermostat. As well, it will recommend the best products to use based on your construction type, sub-floor and floor coveringthat you will be using.

Getting Closer to Customers’ Needs

40 consulting engineers were invited by Danfoss in the USA to take part in a seminar about the valve AB-QM. The day gave the US team a unique opportunity to learn more about customers’ actual needs.

The US team became much wiser on the customers’ needs when it invited 40 consulting engineers recently to a seminar on the Danfoss AB-QM Pressure Independent Control Valve (PICV) and the many benefits associated with this unique HVAC product, especially its ability to offer substantial energy savings.

The seminar was held at the Danfoss Training Center near Baltimore, MD, and the cornerstone of the event was a professional demonstration panel that mimics a real heating/cooling application in a multi-storey building. The application is set up to be controlled by a traditional valve setup (manual balancing valves or flow-limiting valves) or by AB-QM PICVs to show the difference in performance. The panel is fully supported by software so that the engineers could see real-time changes in flows and pressures. This was an interactive session allowing the engineers to input their own values on system pressure, system loads, room loads, etc. and be able to compare system performance between a traditional design and an AB-QM design.

“We received tremendous feedback after this seminar. The demonstration panel really helps make clear the Danfoss value proposition. It can directly link our value proposition to our customers’ needs which is the key to getting the engineers to add us to their specifications,” says Sales Director Lyle Moroz.

The team is planning to run similar seminars in other parts of the US later this year.

Danfoss Expands Energy-Saving AB-QM (PIVC) Product Line

TORONTO — Danfoss is pleased to announce the expansion of its highly successful AB-QM line of Pressure Independent Control Valves (PICVs). The expanded line includes a new 1½-inch and two-inch valve that offer maximum flows of 35 gpm and 55 gpm, respectively. Danfoss will soon announce an additional expansion of the line to include six-inch valves.

Danfoss AB-QM PIVCs combine a control valve with a differential pressure controller. The latter compensates or balances differential pressures in the circuit, so that the required volumetric flow always reaches the heat exchanger. This keeps the ambient temperature stable and the comfort level high, ensuring there is neither over-supply nor waste of energy, and operating costs are reduced.

With a wide range of actuators available, the Danfoss AB-QM valve can be used in all hydronic cooling and heating applications. The valve is the perfect choice for controlling terminal units such as fan coils, water-source heat pumps, chilled ceilings and air handling units.

Pressure Independent Balancing and Control Valve (PIBCV)

The AB-QM provides the perfect control and balance in one compact valve. It can be used separately as an automatic flow limiter valve or as a combined flow limiter and control valve when fitted with an actuator. In addition, the setting is extremely user friendly and reliable, making the AB-QM maintenance free.

The AB-QM valve is a perfect choice for balancing and controlling terminal units such as fan-coils, chilled ceilings and air handling units. For the installer it is straight forward to set the maximum designed flow - just turn the presetting scale to the desired flow.

By fitting the AB-QM valve with one of four different types of Danfoss actuators, the AB-QM valve is upgraded to a control valve with full authority supplying both temperature control and flow balancing in one valve. As a result, the AB-QM can be used in all cooling and heating applications.

As a new service to our customers, we can now offer you a free download of our high resolution product photos in 300 dpi, TIF format or our AutoCAD drawings in DWG format.

It is very easy to use, you simply go to a product type presentation of interest and choose ’Download Grafic’ on the tab above the table with technical product data and either choose one item to download directly via the disk icon or collect several items in the basket to download in a common ZIP file. See description below.

Click download basket, register and resume the download

Please remember that these high resolution product photos are quite big in file size (30-60 MB), and it is therefore a good idea only to download 3-5 photos at a time if your internet connection is slow.

Niels B. Christiansen Becomes President and Chief Executive Officer at Danfoss A/S

Jørgen M. Clausen Retires and Will Become Chairman

Danfoss A/S, a global leader in the development and production of mechanical and electronic components and systems, announced that effective today its president and CEO, Jorgen M. Clausen, has retired and that his successor, Niels B. Christiansen, has assumed these positions. Clausen will become chairman of the Denmark-based company after Danfoss’ Annual General Meeting in the spring of 2009, its Board of Directors said.

Christiansen joined the company in 2004 as its chief operating officer and a member of its executive committee. In May 2007, he earned a promotion to the position of vice-CEO.

“Niels will lead a young, dynamic team and I have great confidence in their collective ability to succeed and drive Danfoss forward,” Clausen said. “During his time at Danfoss, Niels has shown that he is highly capable of renewing our business while affirming the company’s values and history. As a socially responsible innovator in the manufacturing industry, we are committed to engineering technology that conserves energy and slows climate change, and this approach will not change at all.”

Christiansen will head the company’s Executive Committee, which consists of Executive Vice Presidents Kim Fausing (COO) and Frederik Lotz (CFO).

“I am excited about our opportunities and challenges that lie before us,” stated Christiansen. “We are completely focused on driving our business forward and meeting the needs of our customers in tackling global energy efficiency and conservation issues.”

Jorgen Clausen is the eldest son of Danfoss founder Mads Clausen, an engineer who established the company in 1933 in his parents’ attic in Nordborg, Denmark.

“Now is the best time for me to retire from the company’s day-to-day operations and concentrate on my directorships, which include both the chairmanship of Sauer-Danfoss and membership of the board of the Bitten and Mads Clausen Foundation, the charitable organization established by Danfoss’ founder and my father,” Jorgen Clausen concluded.

The Danfoss Group: Jørgen M. Clausen to retire - Niels B. Christiansen to become new CEO

The Danfoss Group’s President and CEO since 1996, Jørgen M. Clausen, has announced to the company Board that he wishes to retire from his position, with effect from October 1st, 2008.

The Board has taken note of Jørgen M. Clausen’s request and has appointed Niels B. Christiansen as new President and CEO, with effect from the same date.

This means that Jørgen M. Clausen will retire from his position as President and CEO a few days after his 60th birthday, which will be celebrated in Danfoss on September 23.

“I consider it to be the best time to retire from the company’s day-to-day operations and concentrate on my directorships, which include, not least, the chairmanship of Sauer-Danfoss and membership of the board of the Bitten and Mads Clausen Foundation,” says Jørgen M. Clausen.

"Since his appointment as President and CEO, Jørgen has increased Danfoss’ global presence substantially and he has played the pivotal role in a rather sensational expansion, which has seen Danfoss’ net sales, profits and its number of employees increase considerably,” points out the chairman of the Board, Henrik E. Nyegaard. Henrik E. Nyegaard also informed the Danfoss A/S Board that he will not offer himself for re-election at the company’s Annual General Meeting in the spring of 2009. Henrik E. Nyegaard says that the Board has decided to nominate Jørgen M. Clausen as new chairman when it elects its own chairman after the Annual General Meeting.

"I have had 14 fantastic years as Vice-chairman and Chairman, respectively, of Danfoss but I am rapidly approaching retirement age, so Jørgen has chosen the best time – from my point of view as well,” says Henrik E. Nyegaard.

New CEO set to head a young team
The new President and CEO, Niels B. Christiansen, joined Danfoss in 2004 as Chief Operating Officer and as a member of the Executive Committee. In May 2007, he was promoted to become the Vice-CEO. With effect from October 1, he will head the Executive Committee, which consists of the Executive Vice Presidents Kim Fausing (COO) and Frederik Lotz (CFO).

"It is a young and dynamic team that I have great expectations of and confidence in,” points out Jørgen M. Clausen, who adds that the Group’s Executive Committee will receive substantial support from the top-level management, which consists of the Presidents of the Group’s three divisions: Kjeld Stærk, Danfoss Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Division, Nis Storgaard, Danfoss Heating Division, and Sven Ruder, Danfoss Motions Controls Division.

”During his time at Danfoss, Niels has proved that he is capable of renewing our business and, at the same time, guaranteeing the company’s values and history. It is with complete peace of mind that I leave the responsibility for the day-to-day business and the continued development to him and his team,” says Jørgen M. Clausen, who invited Niels B. Christiansen to join Danfoss.

Danfoss is set to celebrate Jørgen M. Clausen’s 60th birthday and his retirement following 12 successful years as CEO on September 23. Danfoss Universe, the adventure park for nature and science, will be the focal point of the birthday celebrations and the reception – entirely in the spirit of Jørgen M. Clausen.
